History of the LBG Madrid

Local BEST Group Madrid (hereafter LBG Madrid) was established in 1996 by the hand of LBG Valladolid, being accepted to run for Observer group and achieving that status during the General Assembly (GA) which took place in Tallin. In the next Presidents' Meeting (PM) hosted in Veszprem LBG Madrid was awarded the Baby status, reaching the full membership in PM 1997 at Warsaw.

With the support of the University, more people and more money, LBG Madrid was able to organize up to two external events per year. Such a success was recognized by BEST International, when we were chosen as hosts of Presidents' Meeting 2001.

It was 2003 when, after several jobfairs, external events and a trilateral Cultural Exchange, we split off from the Student Union, establishing an independent youth association. More events were organised during 2004 and the first issue of LBG Madrid's magazine was released the next year.

During October 2006, LBG Madrid celebrated its X Anniversary. The following year schedule was plenty of activities, including a Local Engineering Competition with the partnership of GMV, a Cultural Exchange with LBG Maribor (Slovenia), a Summer Course, and the nursing process of LBG Madrid Carlos III. A strong good mood and good cooperation between all four spanish groups (LBG Madrid, LBG Madrid Carlos III, LBG Barcelona and LBG Valladolid) gave its outcomes as the BESTspain brand, a project which is being developed year by year bringing to life new events (National Engineering Competitions, BESTspain magazine, BESTspain website, and more to come!!).

During 2008, LBG Madrid organized a BEST Engineering Competition, a Cultural Exchange with LBG Iasi (Romania), the II Local Engineering Competition, a 16-day Summer Course, we also hosted the I BEST-GMV National Engineering Competition (BESTspain event) and Jamboree 2008.

Nowadays, with the dedicated support of the University and full of energy, LBG Madrid's potential is limitless.
